Literature Text

Far in the dark a woman lies, floating in the sheer lightness of the air, drowning in the heaviness of her heart, paralyzed, unmoved by the shout of deafening silence that surrounds her. She couldn’t move, she’s overwhelmed, gripped tightly by the tortures of her darkened, lifeless soul. Memories rush like the waterfall. Broken promises, unspoken words, accusations, expectations, missing love, deception, lies and good memories. A place filled with all the good things, pops in her head, it’s all in her head, she thinks. Then tears appear, flowing, dropping wildly like the rain of a violent storm. It takes her, away from life, far deeper through the dark. Gripping her arms, pulling her tightly, loneliness.
Then she’s struck.
How does it feel? Suddenly, nothingness surrounds her like a thick blanket in a dessert of flames, how does it feel? Silence surrounds her like the snow on a cold winter’s night, how does it feel?
She feels pain. Hurt by every bit of thorn inside the cavity where heart used to be, wounded by the boiling stream of emotions rushing through her veins. Pierced by the promises left shattered like shards of a broken blade.
She’s trapped. Jailed in the impenetrable glass of broken dreams. Held in by the invisible, torturous demons of her darkened soul. What should she do?
Who will save her?
What becomes of her?
She runs out of hope, her eyes, red from all the tears she shed, her body, still floating in the endless dark, yet heavy with overwhelming burden, and her heart, her missing heart still aches in its place as if it was there all along. . .
“Somebody call 911!”
A panicking voice shouts.
She wakes up.
Suddenly wet with a bath of blood flowing from her wrist. She feels dry, she feels weak, but she doesn’t feel pain. She sees her love, crying, panicking, shouting, talking to her, “keep yourself together”, “they’re gonna be here soon”, “stay with me”, “I’m sorry”, “I love you”. . .
She whispers, “I love you too”.
She closes her eyes. She feels nothing. The shouting goes away.
She thinks to herself, “What have I done?”
Finally, the darkness swallows her.
She’s gone.
